Kennedy Center Announces Enhanced Security Protocols For Donald Trump Performance of ‘Les Misérables’
By Francisco SalazarThe Kennedy Center has announced that the Institution will be closed to the public on June 11, 2025.
The center took to social media, “noting that it will be closed to non-ticket holders due to enhanced security protocols.”
On June 11, the center will present a production of “Les Misérables,” which will see the attendance of President Donald J. Trump. It is also widely reported that First Lady Melania Trump will make a rare appearance alongside Vice President J.D. Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance.
The opening night performance has recently been in the headlines as it was reported that tickets were selling for up to $2 million.
However, the production will see at least 10 to 12 performers boycotting their participation in the presentation.
The Kennedy Center was recently in the headlines following a report by the Washington Post, that was then corroborated by the New York Times, that revealed that the performing arts center had seen a drastic decline in ticket sales and subscription revenue since the Trump takeover. The New York Times reported that, according to data compiled by anonymous employees, “single-ticket sales were down roughly 50 percent in April and May, compared with the same period in 2024.” The report also noted that revenue was down 82 percent for theater and 57 percent for dance. Meanwhile, the National Symphony Orchestra saw a decline in subscriptions by 28 percent, and the Washington National Opera saw subscriptions down by 25 percent.
