Kansas City Symphony Names Two New Assistant Conductors

Kansas City Symphony has announced that Daniel Wiley and Luke Poeppel will be its David T. Beals III Assistant Conductors.

Wiley will conduct the Young People’s Concerts, Support School Music conducts, and the upcoming Sept. 28 special presentation with Dionne Warwick.

Meanwhile, Poeppel will take on performances of Händel’s “Messiah” as well as children’s concerts, KinderKonzerts, LinkUp, and a special performance showcasing Cody Fy. They will also split conducting duties on the classical series.

“I couldn’t be happier to welcome Daniel and Luke to the Kansas City Symphony,” said Music Director Matthias Pintscher in an official press release. “Their inspiring musicianship will be fully on display throughout the season as they lead programs of the great masters, contemporary artists, and concerts for young audiences filled with wonder and delight.”

The company also announced five new musicians including violinist Aaron You-Xin Li, flutist and piccolo player Alejandro Lombo, violinist Aryton Pisco, trumpet player Hyojoon Park, and cellist Sally Kim.
