Joseph Parrish to Give Program of Art Songs and Spirituals With Death of Classical

Bass-baritone Joseph Parrish opens Death of Classical’s “The Crypt Sessions,” put on in partnership with Young Concert Artists.

Parrish will perform the works of Moses Hogan, Charles Brown, B. Telson, H. T. Burleigh, Franz Liszt, Gustav Mahler, and Johannes Brahms in the Crypt Chapel under the Church of the Intercession in Harlem.

Two performances will be held, the first on Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. and the second on Oct. 4 beginning at 9 p.m. Both concerts open doors one hour prior for a wine and cheese reception.

Parrish was named the winner of the 2022 YCA Susan Wadsworth International Auditions. Recently he was heard in productions at the Festival Napa Valley and City Lyric Opera. He will make his Cincinnati Opera debut next season in “Don Giovanni.”
