Jeanine De Bique, Yuriy Mynenko, Sophie Junker, Raffaele Pe, Julia Lezhneva, Channa Malkin Headline Göttingen International Handel Festival’s 2022 Season
By David SalazarThe Göttingen International Handel Festival has announced its 2022 slate, entitled “New Horizons.”
The festival opens with “Aminta e Fillide” starring Bruno de Sá and Myrsini Margariti. George Petrou conducts the FestspielOrchester Göttingen.
Performance Dates: May 12, 2022
Next up is the opening of “Giulio Cesare” starring Yuriy Mynenko, Sophie Junker, Nicholas Tamagna, Francesca Ascioti, Katie Coventry, Riccardo Novaro, Artur Janda, and Rafal Tomkiewicz. Petrou conducts and directs the production, which will be designed by Paris Mexis. There will be a cinema screening of the work during the festival scheduled for May 20, 2022. And on May 22, there will be a family-friendly version of the work.

The Oratorio “Belshazzar” will star Juan Sancho, Jeanine De Bique, Raffaele Pe, Stephan MacLeod, and Mary-Ellen Nesi. Vaclav Luks conducts.

“Händel goes Tinder” is a new multimedia opera featuring soprano Channa Malkin. Michael Diederich directs.

Soprano Julia Lezhneva will perform alongside conductor George Petrou. The showcase will feature music by Händel.

“The Present” will feature Hanna Herfurtner, Olivia Stahn, Amélie Saadia, Georg Bochow, Robert Sellier, Tim Karweick, Elias Arranz, and Felix Schwandke.
Performance Dates: May 21, 2022
Cembaless will perform music by Händel. Soprano Elizabeth von Stritzky leads the ensemble.
