Janai Brugger, Juan Diego Flórez, Nadine Sierra, Gabriella Reyes, John Holiday Lead LA Opera’s 2025-26 Season

LA Opera has announced its 2025-26 season. Here is a look at the program.

Opera

Gabriella Reyes and Duke Kim star in the company premiere of Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story.” James Conlon conducts the production by Francesca Zambello. 

Performance Dates: Sept. 20-Oct. 8, 2025

Puccini’s “La Bohème” will return Janai Brugger, Oreste Cosimo, Erica Petrocelli, Gihoon Kim, Emmett O’Hanlon, and William Guanbo Su. Lina González-Granados conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 22-Dec. 14, 2025

Philip Glass’ “Akhnaten” will star John Holiday, Sun-Ly Pierce, So Young Park, and Zachary James. Dalia Staveska conducts the production by Phelim McDermott.

Performance Dates: Feb. 28-March 22, 2026

Craig Colclough stars in Verdi’s “Falstaff” alongside Nicole Heaston, Ernesto Petti, Deanna Breiwick, Anthony León, and Hyona Kim. James Conlon conducts the Lee Blakeley production.

Performance Dates: April 18-May 10, 2026

James Conlon crowns his legacy as Music Director with Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.” The cast includes Miles Mykkanen, Sydney Mancasola, Kyle Miller, Aigul Khismatullina, Kwangchul Youn, and Zhengyi Bai. The production is by Suzanne Andrade and Barrie Kosky.

Recital/Concerts 

Juan Diego Flórez will perform a recital.

Performance Date: Feb. 10, 2026

Patti LuPone will perform “Matters of the Heart” featuring Broadway classics along with music by Brian Wilson, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman, Judy Collins, and more.

Performance Date: Feb. 21, 2026

James Conlon will conduct a Gala Concert devoted to the work of three of his favorite opera composers: Mozart, Verdi and Wagner.

Performance Date: April 24, 2026

Renée Fleming will perform a recital.

Performance Date: June 13, 2026

LA Opera Off Grand 

“The Phantom of the Opera (1925 silent film)” will be performed with Live Orchestra.

Performance Dates: Oct. 30 & 31, 2025

Sarah Kirkland Snider’s “Hildegard” will make its world premiere with director Elkhanah Pulitzer.

Performance Dates: Nov. 5-9, 2025

Ben Bliss will perform in Recital at The Wallis.

Performance Date: Dec. 7, 2025

Nadine Sierra and Bryan Wagorn will perform at Zipper Hall.

Performance Date: March 21, 2026

The Les Talens Lyriques will be led by Christophe Rousset and will feature Sandrine Piau in music by George Frideric Handel.

Performance Date: May 24, 2026
