Jakub Józef Orliński To Give Concerts In Spain In January

Countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński is set to give two concerts in Spain in January 2021.

The first stop for the countertenor will be at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona on Jan. 11, and the second concert will take place at the National Auditorium in Madrid on Jan. 17, 2021.

On both occasions, Orliński will be accompanied by Il Giardino d’Amore ensemble, and Stefan Plewniak will conduct.

The program will include the following works by Antonio Vivaldi: Symphony of L’Olimpiade; Allegro of the Concert for violin RV 273; “Sento in seno”, aria from “Il Giustino”; Largo of the Concert for violin RV 273; Allegro of the Sonata for violin, “Per Pisendel” RV 242; Allegro and Grave recitativo of the Concert for violin “Il Grosso Mogul” RV 208; Ciaccona of the Concert for violin RV 222; and Allegro of the Concert for violin “Il Grosso Mogul” RV 208.

Orliński will also perform various works by Georg Friedrich Händel, such as “A dispetto d’un volto ingrato,” aria from “Tamerlano”; “Furibondo spira il vento,” aria from “Partenope”; “Stille amare” and “Torna sol per un momento,” arias from “Tolomeo, Re di Egitto”; and “Agitato da fiere tempeste” from “Oreste.”

Orliński recently performed the title role in “Tolomeo, Re di Egitto” at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, and the role of Cyrus in Händel’s “Belshazzar” at the Opernhaus Zürich. The countertenor is scheduled to perform the role of Andronico for a concert presentation of Händel’s “Tamerlano” at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in April 2021.
