Houston Grand Opera Cancels ‘Silent Night’ Performance Due to Winter Storm

By Francisco Salazar

The Houston Grand Opera has canceled its Jan. 25 performance of “Silent Night” due to inclement weather.

The company said, “Out of an abundance of caution due to severe winter weather conditions, HGO has decided to cancel our Sunday, Jan. 25 performance of Silent ‘Night.’ Ticketholders will be contacted via email with further instructions for exchanging their tickets to one of our 3 remaining performances of the opera. We have rescheduled our Military Appreciation Day celebrations for the Sunday, February 8, matinee performance of ‘Silent Night.’ Please stay safe, Houston!”

This is the second company to cancel performances due to the winter storm. The Dallas Opera also canceled its Hart Institute for Women Conductors 10th Anniversary Showcase on Jan. 25, 2026.

According to Weather.com, North Texas will receive a historic, widespread, long-lasting winter storm that will blast parts of the South with destructive ice and heavy snow for millions from the Plains to the Midwest and Northeast. The storm will lead to widespread dangerous travel for days and “catastrophic” ice accumulations.
