Deutsche Grammophon has announced the signing of an exclusive agreement with South Korean soprano Hera Hyesang Park.

The soprano marks the occasion with a performance for the Yellow Label’s latest “Moment Musical” virtual recital at Berlin’s Meistersaal with pianist Sarah Tysman.

In a statement Dr Clemens Trautmann, President Deutsche Grammophon said, “We are delighted to welcome Hera Hyesang to our great family of artists. She’s a classical artist for today. Every role she plays is invested with the utmost emotional sincerity. She connects tradition with the current Zeitgeist in extraordinary but authentic fashion, because the music she sings is inextricably associated with her tireless and inspiring search for identity.”

Park noted, “I’m very happy to join a label that values the best of the past, understands the needs of the present and wants to shape the future. Creating my debut album for Deutsche Grammophon is proving to be a process of self-discovery. I want to see what might be hidden beneath the layers of protection in which we all need to clothe ourselves. This recording will let me show who I am and share the music I love in the most direct and simple way possible.”

Park’s debut album “A Free Spirit” with the company will be released first in South Korea, to coincide with her tour of the country in November 2020.

Park has performed at Metropolitan Opera, Komische Oper Berlin, and Glyndebourne Festival as well as at the star-studded Met Gala where Dame Anna Wintour chose the Giambattista Valli gown Hera Hyesang wore for the event in 2018.
