Heidi Stober, Tyler Duncan, Colin Ainsworth Headline Oregon Bach Festival 2020

The Oregon Bach Festival has unveiled its 50th anniversary season which will take place between June 26-July 12, 2020. For the purposes of this article, our focus will be on vocal highlights.

The festival opens with J.S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor led by Julian Wachner. The soloists include sopranos Heidi Stober and Stefanie True; countertenor Christopher Ainslie; tenor James Gilchrist; and baritone Kevin Deas.

Performance Date: June 26, 2020

 “Little Red Riding Hood” will be presented as a children’s opera arranged and directed by Kathleen de Graff.

Performance Date: June 27, 2020

Eric Jacobsen will lead a performance of J.S. Bach’s St. John Passion with soprano Heidi Stober, countertenor Christopher Ainslie, tenor Colin Ainsworth, tenor James Gilchrist, baritone Tyler Duncan, and bass Kevin Deas as the soloists.

Performance Date: July 1, 2020

Baritone Tyler Duncan and pianist Erika Switzer will join forces to perform “Die Winterreise.”

Performance Date: July 2, 2020

The festival will feature “OBF Choral Legacy Concert: Voices Past, Present, and Future,” shining a spotlight on the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus, University of Oregon Chamber Choir and Stangeland Family Youth Choral Academy in a wide array of music.

Performance Date: July 5, 2020

The Stangeland Family Youth Choral Academy will give a concert with music by Bach alongside soloists of the Oregon Bach Festival Chorus.

Performance Date: July 8, 2020 

The season will end with J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, conducted by Miguel Harth-Bedoya. The soloists will include soprano Heidi Stober, countertenor Christopher Ainslie, tenor Colin Ainsworth, tenor James Gilchrist, baritone Tyler Duncan, and bass Kevin Deas.
