Heartbeat Opera is set to present its 11th annual Drag Extravaganza, “Queeney Todd: The Demon Bottom of Fleet Street” this October.

The drag opera revenge fantasy will take the stage from Oct. 22 to 31 at Judson Memorial Church in Greenwich Village, New York.

Kemar Jewel makes his Heartbeat debut as director and choreographer, the first time one artist has held both roles on a Drag Extravaganza.

“I’m excited to make my Heartbeat Opera debut with ‘Queeney Todd’! As a musical theatre director and professional drag queen, I’m looking forward to combining my passions in order to create something the Heartbeat Opera Community has never seen,” Jewel said, per an official press release.

Jewel wrote and created the piece with Heartbeat Artistic Director Jacob Ashworth, Peregrine Teng Heard, and Garrett Bell. Ashworth and Dan Schlosberg serve as music directors, with Schlosberg arranging the music.

Nathaniel Sullivan stars as Queeney Todd, mezzo-soprano Eliza Bonet sings Rosina, mezzo-soprano Imara Miles and Jonathan Burke make their company debuts as The Top and The Barber, respectively.
