Gustavo Dudamel hopes to do a joint project between the L.A. Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic.

The conductor told the L.A. Times that as he ends his tenure with the LA Phil and begins his new one in New York, he has proposed “joint projects between the L.A. Phil and the New York Philharmonic, just as he has united YOLA with young players around the world, creating a giant international family of future musicians.”

Dudamel said, “I believe we can build a beautiful bridge between New York and Los Angeles both artistically and socially. It can be a beautiful thing not to be in competition.”

He added that he once had a dream of doing the same with the Paris Opera and L.A. Phil.

The conductor added that after he leaves his post at the L.A. Phil he already has plans for 2027 and 2028 and wants to return four weeks a year including a week at the Bowl.
