Greis Cifuentes Named New Executive Director of The Salvi Foundation

The Salvi Foundation has announced Greis Cifuentes, Ph.D., as its new Executive Director .

This new leadership marks the beginning of a strategic phase aimed at strengthening the Foundation’s connection with cultural, educational, and artistic networks both in Colombia and internationally. Dr. Cifuentes, whose tenure begins in May 2025. will work to expand the Foundation’s programming to generating sustainable links with international organizations, cultural sector partners, and entities committed to education and social transformation through music.

Dr. Cifuentes holds a PhD in Public Policy from the University of the West of Scotland and has over a decade of experience in project development, international cooperation, culture, and sustainable development. She has served as Secretary of Culture of Ibagué, where she promoted the city’s designation as a Creative City of Music by UNESCO. She served as an advisor to the Colombian Ministry of Culture on multilateral issues, and has led initiatives in Colombia and Germany with the Fulbright Commission.

Throughout its 20 years, the Salvi Foundation has been a driving force behind major projects such as the Cartagena Music Festival, the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra, the Ibagué Festival, and the Technology in Construction and Repair of Bowed String Instruments program. The Foundation has collaborated with the Conservatory of Tolima and the Antonio Stradivari Luthiery School of Cremona.

With this new leadership, the Foundation reaffirms its commitment to fostering Colombian musical talent, promoting artistic excellence, and building a robust and inclusive cultural ecosystem that guarantees the sustainability and growth of the music sector in Colombia.

Dr. Cifuentes is quoted in a press release saying, “I assume this responsibility with profound respect for the legacy we have built and with the conviction that music can continue to be a bridge between people, territories, and generations. My goal is to strengthen musical access and training processes, connect the Salvi Foundation with national and international networks, and join forces with those who believe that culture not only transforms lives but also builds society.”
