Colombian Soprano Betty Garcés Receives Major Nomination
By David SalazarColombian soprano Betty Garcés has been nominated as one of the most prominent Afro-Colombians of 2024.
She was nominated in the category of music and arts and recognized for her work throughout Europe and Latin America.
The soprano took to social media on Dec. 16 to note that it was “an honor to be part of this amazing group of powerful and brave souls! Congratulations to all of our great nominees, for their amazing work that is an example and inspiration for our country and for those beyond our borders! Thank you beloved God for giving us talent, for blessing us with our work, our invisible efforts, our passion, and the sacrifices we make to do what we love! Blessings for all! We are all Afro-Colombians of the year and so much more.”
Garcés recently performed Verdi’s Requiem at the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo and was also involved in a celebration of Viennese music with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá.
