Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo Unveils 2025 Season
By David SalazarThe Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá, Colombia has unveiled its 2025 programming. Here is a rundown of the opera and vocal performances on offer.
First up is a concert featuring tenor Piotr Beczala. The tenor delivers music by Verdi, Puccini, Giordano, Moniuszko, and Mascagni alongside the Orquestra Filarmónica de Bogotá and conductor Joachim Gustafsson.
Performance Date: Jan. 31, 2025
Then comes “Domitilia,” a Brazilian chamber opera by João Gilherme Ripper. Borja Mariño conducts the production by Beller Carbone.
Performance Date: Feb. 7 & 8, 2025
“El Barberillo de Lavapiés” gets presented in a production from the Teatro Real de Madrid and features the Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá and the Coro Nacional de Colombia.
Performance Date: Feb. 14-16, 2025
Bass Valeriano Lanchas headlines “Todo Brahms,” a concert featuring the Sonata by Viola and Piano and the “Vier ernste Gesänge.” Joining him on the recital are violist Anibal Dos Santos and pianist Sergei Sichkov.
Performance Date: March 5, 2025
Vincent Dumestre leads Le Poème Harmonique in Pedro Salazar’s production of “L’Incoronazione di Poppea.” The production is presented in co-production with La Compañía Estable and Le Poème Harmonique. Soloists include Andrea Niño, Luciana Mancini, Yeraldine León, Agustín Pennino, Alvaro Carillo, and Fernando Escalona, among others.
Performance Date: March 23 – 25, 2025
“La cuina de Rossini” will feature segments from his most famed works. The production is based on a production from the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Andreu Gallén conducts and David Selvas directs.
Performance Date: July 5 -13, 2025
Pedro Salazar directs “Nabucco” with Yeruham conducting the Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá and the Coro Nacional de Colombia.
Performance Date: Sept. 10 – 14, 2025
“The Fairy Queen” will be showcased by Les Arts Florissants under William Christie. Mourad Merzouki directs.
Performance Date: Sept. 24, 2025
