The Gran Teatre del Liceu has announced cuts to its upcoming “Don Giovanni” production.

The theater announced that in order to comply with health regulations in Catalonia and to comply with the region’s curfew of 11 p.m., the production will cut many scenes from the work. Among the cuts that will be made include the final scene of the opera, Donna Elvira’s aria “Mi tradì quell’alma ingrata,” and the duet between Masetto and Zerlina, “Per queste tue manine.”

The Gran Teatre del Liceu’s production will mark the first fully-staged production since the lockdown and will be conducted by Josep Pons. The cast includes Christopher Maltman, Miah Persson, Véronique Gens, Luca Pisaroni, Adam Palka, Ben Bliss, Leonor Bonilla, and Josep-Ramon Olivé.

“Don Giovanni” opens on Oct. 24, 2020, and runs through Nov. 8, 2020.
