Göteborg Opera Announces 2025-26 Season

Liam Bonthrone, Hannes Öberg, Åke Zetterström, Ann-Kristin Jones, and Kristoffer Töyrä lead Rossini’s “La Cenerentola.” Giancarlo Andretta conducts.
Performance Dates: August 25-Sept. 19, 2025
Puccini’s “La Bohème” will star Ida Falk Winland, Matilda Sterby, Adam Frandsen, Orhan Yildiz, Sofie Asplund, Kristoffer Töyrä, and Kristian Lindroos. Giordano Bellincampi and Martyna Szymczak conduct.
Performance Dates: Sept. 6, 2025-Feb. 4, 2026
Philipp Rosendahl directs a new production of Weber’s “Der Freischütz” with Orhan Yildiz, Matilda Sterby, Kerstin Avemo, Kristian Lindroos, Adam Frandsen, and Stefan Berkieta. Francesco Angelico conducts.
Performance Dates: Nov. 8-Dec. 4, 2025
Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” will star Mats Almgren, Kristoffer Töyrä, Tobias Westman, Viktor Johansson, Åke Zetterström, Sofie Asplund, Kerstin Avemo, Ida Falk Winland, Mia Karlsson, and Micaela Sjöstedt. Aivis Greters and Martyna Szymczak conduct the production by James Bonas.
Performance Dates: Dec. 13, 2025-Feb. 7, 2026
Janáček’s “Jenůfa” will star Ingrid Tobiasson, Adam Frandsen, Kjetil Støa, Katarina Karnéus, and Julia Sporsén. Alejo Pérez conducts the production by Nicola Raab.
Performance Dates: March 8-26, 2026
Concerts
Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony, Lars-Erik Larsson’s Pastoral Suite, and songs by Hugo Alfvén will be part of the first concert of the season. Giordano Bellincampi conducts Kerstin Avemo and Tobias Westman.

Ida Rosén Hamrå conducts the Christmas Concert with Göteborg Opera’s Children’s Choir and Göteborg Opera’s Youth Choirs.
Performance Dates: Dec. 13-14, 2025
Matilda Sterby and Bernhard Greter lead a recital.
Performance Date: Feb. 10, 2026
Martyna Szymczak leads a concert of opera’s most memorable farewells.
Performance Date: March 29, 2026
Vincenzo Milletarì conducts the fourth act of “La Gioconda” with Åsa Jäger, Ann-Kristin Jones, Adam Frandsen, and Orhan Yildiz.
