Matilda Sterby Wins Wilhelm Stenhammar International Music Competition

On June 13, 2024, the Wilhelm Stenhammar International Music Competition held its finals at the De Geer Hall in Norrköping, Sweden.

The first prize went to Swedish soprano Matilda Sterby, while the second prize went to South Korean soprano Celine Mun.

The third prize was awarded to Swedish mezzo-soprano Mathilda Bryngelsson while the audience prize was given to South Korean tenor Jaesung Kim. The Mozart Prize was handed to Swedish soprano Annika Sandberg while the Stenhammar Prize was awarded to Turkish bass Cumhur Gorgun.

The competition took place over a week, with the 45 singers chosen to compete and were whittled down over three rounds to the 8 who competed in the Grand Final.
