French Government to Offer Support to Ukrainian & Dissident Russian Artists

By Nicolas Quiroga

The French state has created a fund of one million euros, to help Ukrainian artists, who have been displaced and exiled as a result of the Russian invasion.

The government is also offering support for dissident Russian artists who are fleeing their government’s repression against freedom of expression.

Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, French Minister of Culture, assured that “her country will help Ukrainian artists so that they can continue their creative work and that these funds be used so that students can enroll in French universities and cultural organizations.

“This is a titanic task that France has undertaken and whose initiative will also be available to dissident Russian artists. Likewise, from that fund there will be an amount allocated to a complex emergency telephone service in which support will be offered, both in Ukrainian and Russian,” the Minister added.

Without giving further information, the Minister of Culture assured that she will allocate additional support to be used for research scholarships and financing of artistic projects and for the organization of exhibitions.
