Fleur Barron & Nicholas Mulroy Star in the 2024 Ryedale Festival

The Ryedale Festival has announced its programming for the 2024 season.

Mezzo-soprano Victoria Simmonds, the RSMF Ryedale Primary Choir, Ryedale Voices, Harmonia, The RyeLarks, and the Kirkbymoorside Town Junior Brass Band present the first “Community Song Cycle” by John Barber and Hazel Gould. The concert also features storyteller Rosie Barrett. Caius Lee conducts the pre-festival event.

Performance Date: June 8, 2024

As part of her festival residency, mezzo-soprano Fleur Barron performs with pianist Christopher Glynn and cellist Bruno Philippe. The trio will give the UK premiere of “Kian Ravaei” by Gulistan.

Performance Date: July 13, 2024

BBC New Generation Artists tenor Nicholas Mulroy and accordion player Ryan Corbett present “One Hundred Years of Solitude.” The concert features works by Gardel, Fauré, Schubert, Piazzolla, Bach, Lennon, and McCartney.

Fleur Barron conducts a masterclass for young performers.

Barron and pianist Julius Drake join Hibiki Ichikawa on the shamisen, and actor/dancer Suleiman Suleiman in a meditation featuring the narratives of the 1818 Kabuki play, “Yasuna.” Also on the program is Schubert’s “Winterreise,” and the world premiere of “Spring Snow.”

The Papagena ensemble performs a concert of old English folk tunes to Imogen Heap and Monteverdi to Sandy Denny.

The Marian Consort gives the work premiere of a new work by Sarah Frances Jenkins. The program is completed with works by Weelkes, Laurence Osborn, and Dowland.

“My music – an afternoon with Dame Sheila Hancock” features soprano Caroline Blair, the Carducci Quartet, and interviewer Katy Hamilton.

The Marian Consort presents “In Sorrow’s Footsteps.” The program includes Allegri’s “Miserere,” and James MacMillan”Miserere,” with works by Vicente Lusitano, Palestrina, and Victoria.
