Finnish National Opera to Stream ‘COVID Fan Tutte’ with Karita Mattila

On Sept. 1, the Finnish National Opera will stream “COVID fan tutte” by Mozart and Minna Lindgren.

The production, which opened the 2020-21 season, will be showcased on the company’s  Stage24 and Yle Areena at 7 p.m. European time.

“COVID fan tutte” is an adaptation of Mozart’s famed “Così Fan Tutte” and uses lockdown experiences from the COVID-19 pandemic. The opera stars some of the world’s most important Finnish singers including Karita Mattila, Miina-Liisa Värelä, Johanna Rusanen, Tuomas Katajala, Waltteri Torikka, and Tommi Hakala. Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts the production which is directed by Jussi Nikkilä.

“COVID fan tutte” is being presented with new safety regulations with only every other seat being sold in order to ensure social distancing. The production will run through Oct. 23, 2020.
