Fabio Sartori & Roberta Mantegna Lead Teatro dell’Opera di Roma’s ‘Il Trovatore’

On the June 15, the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma’s summer season opens at the Circo Massimo.

The company will open its summer celebration with Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” conducted by Daniele Gatti and directed by Lorenzo Mariani.

In a statement, Gatti said, “With ‘Il Trovatore’ will have completed my journey through Verdi’s popular trilogy at the Opera di Roma, all during the pandemic.”

He added that he has only conducted “Il Trovatore” once at the Salzburg Festival in 2014.

The opera will star Fabio Sartori and Piero Pretti as Manrico, Roberta Mantegna as Leonora, Clémentine Margaine as Azucena, Christopher Maltman and Giovanni Meoni as Conte di Luna, and Marco Spotti as Ferrando.

The new production will see costumes by William Orlandi, lighting by Vinicio Cheli and video projections Fabio Massimo Iaquone and Luca Attilii.
