Ermonela Jaho Cancels ‘La Traviata’ in Munich

Soprano Ermonela Jaho has canceled her appearance in Verdi and Piave’s “La Traviata” at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, according to an official statement on the company’s website.

In her stead, soprano Ekaterina Siurina will take over the presentation scheduled for Feb. 25, 2020.

Siurina will join the cast that includes Liparit Avetisyan, Sir Simon Keenlyside, Daria Proszek, Corinna Scheurle, Dean Power, Christian Rieger, Boris Prýgl, Martin Snell, George Vîrban, and Christian Valle. Giampaolo Bisanti will conduct the production by Günter Krämer.

Siurina recently performed the role of Gilda in Verdi’s “Rigoletto” at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Donna Anna in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” at the New Zealand Opera, Mimì in Puccini’s “La bohème” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Violetta Valéry in Verdi’s “La Traviata” at the Wiener Staatsoper, among others.

Ermonela Jaho is still set to appear in the final presentation of “La Traviata” at the Bayerische Staatsoper on March 28.
