On August 30, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival is set to perform Verdi’s Requiem.
The concert will feature Eleonora Buratto as the soprano soloist alongside Elina Garanča, Joseph Calleja, and Roberto Tagliavini.
Gianandrea Noseda will conduct the concert, which will feature the orchestra and chorus of the Zurich Opera House.
In a statement, Buratto said, “Singing in the Verdi Requiem is a regular fixture in my calendar of which I’m particularly proud. Measuring myself each time with orchestras and conductors who, like me, hold this Verdi masterpiece in the highest regard, is allowing me to discover in it a universe of detail, highlighted thanks to different musical sensitivities. In 2025 I’ve already performed the Requiem twice, with the Sächsischer Staatsopernchor Dresden and the Staatskapelle conducted by Maestro Gatti in Dresden, where our attention was on the commemoration of the bombing of Dresden in 1945, making it an almost unique performance.”
