The International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians (ICSOM) has announced the results of its Governing Board election.

At its annual conference, held Aug. 23–26, in Milwaukee, ICSOM elected a new chairperson and four members-at-large. Keith Carrick, principal percussionist with the Utah Symphony, now serves as the organization’s chairperson. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the incredible members of ICSOM for their support, and I am excited to stand together in upholding our shared values,” Carrick said in a press release.

Carrick succeeds Meredith Snow, a violist in the Los Angeles Philharmonic, who steps down following seven years as chairperson. Snow first joined ICSOM as a delegate in 2002 and was elected to ICSOM’s Governing Board in 2005 as a member-at-large.

Kimberly Tichenor, assistant principal second violin and committee chair of the Louisville Orchestra, returns to the Governing Board as member-at-large, a position she previously held from 2016 to 2019. Additionally, there are three first-time members-at-large including Nicole Jordan, principal librarian with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Jessica Phillips, acting principal clarinetist with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and Robert Schumitzky, first violinist with the Pacific Symphony. All are ICSOM delegates for their respective orchestras.

Peter de Boor will continue as ICSOM treasurer and Mike Muszynski will remain editor of Senza Sordino, the official publication of ICSOM.
