Edinburgh Festival Announces Cast Change for ‘Rusalka’

The Edinburgh Festival has announced a cast change for its production of “Rusalka.”

The company said, “please note that Natalya Romaniw and Mark Nathan have had to withdraw from the performance on Monday, August 8 due to illness. We are very grateful to Elin Pritchard, who has agreed to step in the perform the role of Rusalka, and James Geidt, who will perform the role of Lovec.”

Romaniw also took to social media and said, “It is with great sadness that due to illness, I’ve had to withdraw from tonight’s performance of Garsington Opera’s Rusalka at the Edinburgh Festival. Here’s a photo of me begging for my voice back! I hope to be well enough to perform tomorrow.”

Pritchard and Geidt join a cast that includes Gerard Schneider, Musa Ngqungwana, Christine Rice, Sky Ingram, John Findon, and Grace Durham. Douglas Boyd conducts Jack Furness’ production.

“Rusalka” runs through August 9, 2022.
