
Dubai Opera & China National Opera House Team Up for ‘Turandot’
By David SalazarDubai Opera is set to join forces with the China National Opera House for a production of “Turandot.”
The production, which runs from April 3 -5, 2026, marks the 100th anniversary of the opera’s world premiere and features the China National Opera House’s own soloists, orchestra, and chorus.
Directed by Wang Huquan, with revival direction by Shi Jingfu, the staging is set within a stylized, symbolic vision of ancient China. Conductor Yang Yang leads a cast that stars Liu Yanhua and Sun Xiuwei in the title role, while Li Shuang and Zhang Xiqiu alternate as Calaf. Yao Hong and Ruan Yuqun share the role of Liù, with Song Fengrun as Timur.
The production is sponsored by HSBC and supported by the Chinese Embassy in Dubai and the China Cultural Center.
