The English Baroque Soloists and Monteverdi Choir have announced changes to their upcoming tour in the fall.

The choir and orchestra announced that they were canceling the Oct. 27, 2023 concert at the Festival Bach in Montreal, Canada.

Meanwhile, conductor Dinis Sousa will step in for Sir John Eliot Gardiner, on Oct. 20 and Oct 21 at Harris Theater in Chicago as well as at Carnegie Hall on Oct. 25 and 26, 2023, and at the St Martin-in-the-Fields in London on Oct. 31, 2023. The programs will include Bach’s Mass in B Minor and Handel’s “L’Allegro, il Penseroso ed il Moderato.”

The changes come after Sir. John Eliot Gardiner withdrew from his remaining 2023 engagements after having assaulted bass William Thomas following the first act of “Les Troyens” at the Berlioz Festival. The conductor has since apologized for his actions and is seeking medical advice.
