‘DIASPORA: Jewish Music of Longing & Celebration’ With Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale and Apollo’s Fire

The Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale (PBO) and Grammy Award-winning ensemble Apollo’s Fire will present “DIASPORA: Jewish Music of Longing & Celebration.”

In part of PBO’s 8th “Jews & Music” initiative the two historical music ensembles will perform works by Jeannette Sorrell that celebrate her Jewish roots and the Sephardic, Romani, and Ashkenazi musical traditions. PBO’s scholar in residence Francesco Spagnolo and Sorrell will conduct.

Soloists include soprano Polina Skovoroda Shepherd, tenor Haitham Haidar, baritone Jeffrey Strauss, and vocalist Daphna Mor. PBO’s orchestra and Chorale as well as the Apollo’s Fire artists joins them.

The concerts will take place on March 15 – 16 in the Taube Atrium Theatre in San Francisco and at the Bing Concert Hall in Stanford on March 17.
