Deutsche Grammophon is recording a new “Tosca” to celebrate the centenary of Puccini’s death.

The upcoming recording will mark the start of a multi-year partnership between Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and the German label.

The upcoming recording will be led by Daniel Harding and will star Eleonora Buratto in the title role, Jonathan Tetelman as Cavaradossi, and Ludovic Tézier as Scarpia. The cast is rounded out by Giorgi Manoshvili, Davide Giangregorio, and Matteo Macchioni. The Puccini classic will be performed in concert form on Oct. 21, 24, and 26, 2024.

Buratto recently made her role debut as “Tosca” at the Bayerische Staatsoper alongside Tézier, who is well-known for his interpretation of the villanous Scarpia, having performed the role at the Wiener Staatsoper, Salzburg Festival, and Arena di Verona, among others. Tetelman is also renowned for his interpretation of Cavaradossi and has taken on the tragic hero in Vienna and Berlin, among others.
