Denmark’s Den Jyske Opera has named a new Opera Director.

Anne Barslev will take on the position on May 1, 2024  and will replace Philipp Kochheim, who resigned from the company after 7 years in office.
Barslev will be in charge of the artistic management and work alongside director Claus Pettersson, who is in charge of the administrative management.
Regarding her appointment, Barslev said, “The Den Jyske Opera has an outstanding position in the Danish cultural landscape, and I am incredibly proud and honored to be entrusted with the job of opera director. I am looking forward to, together with director Claus Pettersson, putting me at the forefront of The Den Jyske Opera and together with dedicated employees, helping develop the future of the touring opera in Denmark. We have to, in cooperation with the national orchestras, send opera out to the country’s theater associations and at the same time create anchoring and visibility in our hometown Aarhus.”
