Dawn Upshaw Headlines NY Premiere of Melinda Wagner’s ‘Dido Reimagined’ at 92Y

The 92Y is set to present the New York Premiere of Melinda Wagner’s “Dido Reimagined” on April 3, 2022.

The showcase will be headlined by soprano Dawn Upshaw who will work alongside the Brentano String Quartet.

The program will feature music by a wide range of composers including Purcell, Locke, Dowland, Tomkins, Byrd, and Johnson. Paired with Wagner’s new work is “Dido’s Lament” from “Dido and Aeneas.”

Wagner is a Pulitzer Prize-winning composer who was championed early on by Daniel Barenboim. She received a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship as well as awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and ASCAP. She has also given masterclasses at such institutions as UC Davis, Yale, Harvard, Eastman, and Juilliard and has held faculty positions at Brandeis University and Smith College.
