Cumbria Opera Group Announces Outdoor Opera Event

By David Salazar

The Cumbria Opera Group has announced a unique outdoor opera weekend.

Taking place on July 9 and 10, 2022 at the Battlebarrow House Gardens in Appleby, the showcase will feature “Swallows and Armenians” by Karen Babayan as well as “Ariel.” Additionally, there will be an afternoon of operatic arias by such composers as Puccini, Mozart, and Verdi, among others.

The showcase will feature Juniper Creatives, and an actor-musician troupe specializing in outdoor performances. Audiences will also hear soloists from the Cumbria Opera Festival 2021.

“The outdoor opera event will be the most accessible and exciting introduction to opera the Cumbria Opera Group have ever produced. It’s designed to be family-friendly, and to appeal to both opera-lovers and opera-sceptics! If you love Shakespeare and Arthur Ransome, or just love eating a picnic in the great Cumbrian sunshine, then this is the event for you,” Joe Davies, Artistic Director of Cumbria Opera Group, told OperaWire.
