
Csilla Boross to Headline Pittsburgh Festival Operas’s ‘La Gioconda’
By David SalazarPittsburgh Festival Opera will present a concert performance of Ponchielli’s “La Gioconda” on Dec. 14 at 4 p.m. at Carnegie Music Hall in Pittsburgh.
The event marks the first local staging of the opera since 1964 and continues the company’s renewed focus on concert opera under General Director Marianne Cornetti.
The performance features an international cast led by Csilla Boross as Gioconda, Victor Starsky as Enzo, Alice Chung as Laura, and Sebastian Catana as Barnaba. Cornetti appears as La Cieca. Additional cast members include Allen Adair as Zuàne and Ben Werley as Isepo. Christopher Franklin conducts the orchestra and chorus.
