Pittsburgh Festival Opera Announces 2024 Slate, ‘It’s All About the Voice’

Pittsburgh Festival Opera has unveiled its 2024 season.

Titled “It’s All About the Voice,” the festival opens with “An Evening in España” featuring Spanish music, flamenco, tango, and salsa.

Performance Date: July 21, 2024

Next up is “An Evening Under the Stars With Our Stars” at Schenley Plaza Tent.

Performance Date: August 14, 2024

The company then presents the Pittsburgh Opera debut of “Adriana Lecouvreur,” directed by Marianne Cornetti. The opera stars Csilla Boross (Adriana Lecouvreur), Victor Starsky (Maurizio, Conte di Sassonia), Marianne Cornetti (La Principessa di Bouillon), Michael Chioldi (Michonet), Joseph Frank (L’Abate di Chazeuil), and Brian Kontes (Il Principe di Bouillon). Christopher Franklin conducts.

“It’s always my mission to present the highest opera caliber to Pittsburgh. As an artistic leader and an artist, I understand the specific challenges and goals of finding the perfect voice for each operatic role. This ‘Adriana Lecouvreur’ is no different. Given the newness of the piece to Pittsburgh, I knew I had to create a flawless cast for this debut. The audience deserves nothing less than the best,” Cornetti noted about her production.

“Legends in the Limelight: Csilla Boross” will feature the Hungarian soprano at Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall.

Performance Date: Sept. 24, 2024

The Annual Mildred Miller International Voice Competition will take place at Kresge Hall at Carnegie Mellon Universit.

Performance Date: Oct. 19, 2024

Danielle Pastin will headline another “Legends in the Limelight” performance.

Performance Date: Nov. 10, 2024

The final “Legends in the Limelight” performance will spotlight Sebastian Catana.

Performance Date: Dec. 8, 2024

The season ends with a Holiday Extravaganza.

Performance Date: Dec. 15, 2024
