Thomas Hampson will no longer perform with the Israel Philharmonic due the coronavirus precautions.

The orchestra announced “following the regulations of the Ministry of Health, baritone Thomas Hampson, who arrived from Switzerland, had to leave Israel and will not be able to appear in the concerts.”

As a result, the orchestra will not perform the Schubert Songs and instead will perform Mozart’s Symphony no. 35 (“Haffner”).

This is the latest performance affected by the virus outbreak. Earlier last week conductor Daniele Callegari was forced to cancel his performances of “Eugene Onegin” due to a travel ban imposed by the Israel government.

Numerous performances have been affected by the virus including all Italian theaters which were forced to close until April 3.

The Israel Philharmonic to perform on March 5 through 7, 2020.
