
Concurso Tenor Viñas Announces 2025 Winners
By Francisco SalazarThe 62 edition of the Concurso Tenor Viñas which was held at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona has announced its winners.
South Korean soprano Gloria Jieun Choi took home first prize. The prize comes with 30,000 euros offered by the Fundació Puig and Gran Teatre del Liceu. Additionally, the soprano has a guaranteed contract with the theater.
Romanian baritone Mihai Damian won second place which comes with a 15,000 euro prize which is offered by Grup Amics del Concurs Tenor Viñas. Damian also won the audience prize and the Torras Foundation award of 25,000 dollars.
The third prize was awarded to British tenor Robert Lewis. The prize includes 11,000 euros and is offered by Dña. Cristina Bertran Salvans.
The fourth prize of 8,000 euros went to Russian tenor Egor Zhuravskii. The prize is sponsored by Verse, Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona, and in memory of Javier Villavecchia and Marta Obregón.
U.S. tenor Luke Norvell took home the fifth prize which included a 7,000 euro prize sponsored by Grup Amics del Concurs Tenor Viñas while U.S. tenor Michael Butler won the sixth prize. The prize included 6,000 euros sponsored by Grup Amics del Concurs Tenor Viñas, D. Joaquim Zamacois, and Dña. Patricia Malet.
The final included 17 participants and the jury was made up of Víctor Garcia de Gomar, Maria Guleghina, Iain Burnside, Bernarda Fink, Alessandro Galoppini, Peter Mario Katona, Joan Matabosch, Christian Schirm, Christoph Seuferle, Brian Speck, Carolin Wielpütz, and Colin Michael Brush.
