Concurso Internacional Tenor Viñas Announces Winners

The Concurso Internacional Tenor Viñas has announced the winners of the 60th edition.

The competition, which is one of the most important in the world, saw Yewon Han take home first prize. The South Korean soprano also won the Premio Extraordinario “Mercedes Viñas” and studies at the Internationale OpernWerkstatt.

The first prize also includes 25.000€ offered by the Fundacion Gran Teatre del Liceu. It also includes a contract with the Fundación Gran Teatre del Liceu for next season.

The second prize, which includes 15.000€ offered by the Amigos del Concurso Tenor Viñas, was awarded to Ukranian soprano Yulia Merkudinova. Finally, the third prize “María Esperanza Salvans Piera,” which includes 11.000€ was given to German soprano Ann-Kathrin Niemczyk.

Previous winners of the Concurso Internacional Tenor Viñas include  Victoria Karkacheva, Aigul Khismatullina, Iván Ayón Rivas, and Gemma Summerfield.
