Concurso Internacional de Canto Lírico de Lousada Announces Second Edition

The Concurso Internacional de Canto Lírico de Lousada has announced its second edition.

The competition will take place between July 2-9, 2023 and features prizes of €6000 for first place, €4000 for second place, €2000 for third place, €1000 for the public prize, €1000 for the best piano accompanist, and an award for best Portuguese and Portuguese interpreter.

The first edition featured 60 competitors from 20 different nationalities and is open to singers between the ages of 18-36. Contestants must present six opera arias as part of their initial submission. For the semifinals and final, artists will be asked to present two arias each. Candidates who have won first prize at an international opera competition within the last two years will be admitted directly into the semi-final.

The Elimination round is set for July 3 and 4 with the semifinal set for July 6 and the final for July 8. There will be a Laureate Concert on July 9, 2023.

The jury will feature such renowned artists and industry figures as tenor Aquiles Machado,  baritone Carmelo Corrado Caruso, conductor Cesário Costa, soprano Elisabete Matos, and baritone José Corvelo.
