Colorado Music Festival & Center for Musical Arts Names New Executive Director

The Colorado Music Festival & Center for Musical Arts has announced the appointment of Aren Der Hacopian as its new Executive Director.

Der Hacopian joins the organization with more than 20 years of experience in arts administration. He has held leadership positions at Seattle Opera since 2010, overseeing artistic administration, production planning, workforce leadership and financial oversight across major institutional programs. He previously managed Seattle Opera’s Young Artists Program beginning in 2007, and from 2006 to 2007 supported the launch of Los Angeles Opera’s Domingo Thornton Young Artists Program.

“After an extensive national search, we are delighted to welcome Aren as the new executive director of the Colorado Music Festival & Center for Musical Arts,” said Board President Jim Heeter, per an official press release.

Der Hacopian, who holds a bachelor’s degree in music from California State University, Los Angeles and a master’s degree in voice and opera from the University of California, Los Angeles, begins his new role on Sept. 1, 2026. He succeeds Elizabeth McGuire, who has led the organization since 2016.
