Cleveland Orchestra Raises $2 Million at Gala

The Cleveland Orchestra raised $2 million dollars during its Oct. 1 Gala at the Severance Music Center.

The money raised will go toward the organization’s educational programs and community involvement initiatives.

The Gala opened its presentation with a musical prelude by members of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra. Music director Franz Welser-Möst conducted performances of “Overture to Oberon” by Carl Maria vin Weber, “Perlen der Liebe” by Strauss, and “Les Preludes” by Franz Liszt.

In an official press statement, Nancy W. McCann and Russell Trusso, 2022 Gala Chairs, stated, “We are honored to celebrate with Music Director Franz Welser-Möst, whose commitment and passion for music education is creating a deep and lasting impact on the lives of our community, is a source of pride and inspiration.”
