Quinn Kelsey & Lise Davidsen Lead Metropolitan Opera’s New ‘Macbeth’

The Metropolitan Opera is set to open its 141st season on Sept. 22 with the company’s first new production of Verdi’s “Macbeth” in nearly 20 years.
The production will star soprano Lise Davidsen as Lady Macbeth and baritone Quinn Kelsey in the title role as well as tenor Freddie De Tommaso as Macduff and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green as Banquo.
Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Met’s Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, conducts, and director Louisa Proske makes her Met debut.
The opera will be performed 10 times through Oct. 20 with the Oct. 17 performance transmitted live worldwide as part of “The Met: Live in HD” series. Additionally, the Sept. 22 and Oct. 14 performances of “Macbeth” will be broadcast live on the SiriusXM app and a recording of the Oct. 17 performance will be broadcast on The Robert K. Johnson Foundation–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network on Jan. 16.
