City Lyric Opera Unveils 2024 Spring Season
By David SalazarCity Lyric Opera has announced its Spring 2024 season.
First up is “Lifting Voices” featuring soprano Amanda Simms. The program features music by Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov and Black composer HT Burleigh.
Performance Date: Jan. 27, 2024
Next up is “The Languages of Love,” featuring baritone Sejin Park and pianist Hyemin Jeong.
Performance Date: Feb. 10, 2024
Sopranos Abagael Cheng and Sadie Spivey headline “Awakening,” a semi-staged, narrative-based, song recital that explores the power of protest music.
Performance Date: March 21 & 22, 2024
Mezzo-soprano then stars in “Brittle Bright,” a song cycle by Brad Bombardier and poet Marion Thompson van Steenwyk. She is joined by Linda Turpening, the daughter of the poet.
Performance Date: April 25, 2024
Daveed Buzaglo performs Britten’s “Five Canticles,” joined by Music at Co-Cath.
Performance Date: May 16 & 18, 2024
This portion of the season ends with “Enchanted Melodies” starring soprano Emily Gallagher. The performance introduces children to classical music through fairy tales.
