
ChoralSpace to Present ‘Choir Day’ at Chamber Music Hall Berlin
By David SalazarChoralSpace will present a full day of choral music at the Chamber Music Hall Berlin on June 27, 2026.
The day begins at 3 p.m. with a performance of Felix Mendelssohn’s oratorio “Elijah,” Op. 70, bringing together nearly 200 voices for the work. Among the participating ensembles is the University of Louisville Cardinal Singers, whose conductor Kent Hatteberg will lead the full performance. The soloists include Rahel Kramer, soprano; Susan Zarrabi, mezzo-soprano; Maximilian Vogler, tenor; and Niklas Mallmann, bass. The ChoralSpace Festival Choir and the Berlin-Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra also participate.
Then, at 8 p.m., there will be a closing concert, “Berlin Loves You,” which brings together nine choirs from five countries, with more than 300 participants performing. Among the featured groups is Harmonia Expatria, a choir in which Germans of Turkish descent celebrate the music of their homeland. The evening will be conducted by Jan Schumacher, artistic director of the German Choir Competition and vice president of the International Federation for Choral Music. The showcase will feature works by Karl Jenkins, Ēriks Ešenvalds, and others.
