
Central City Opera Announces 2026 Season
By Francisco SalazarCentral City Opera has announced its 2026 season, which will mark the 94th festival season.
The festival will be held between June 27 and August 2, 2026.
In a statement, Adam Scurto, Managing Director of External Affairs, said, “Our 94th season represents the breadth and depth of what makes Central City Opera special. This season offers audiences an extraordinary range of artistic experiences. Whether you’re a long-time opera lover, or have never seen an opera before, there’s something for everyone.”
The upcoming season will open with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro.”

The second production will feature “The Ballad of Baby Doe,” marking both Colorado’s 150th birthday and the 70th anniversary of the opera’s world premiere on Central City’s historic stage.

The festival will also feature Terrence McNally’s “Master Class.” The play transforms a simple voice lesson with legendary soprano Maria Callas into an unforgettable evening of drama, music, and revelation, featuring arias by Giacomo Puccini, Giuseppe Verdi, and Vincenzo Bellini.

Rounding out the 94th festival is the return of CCO in Concert featuring the Central City Opera Orchestra and festival singers in an extravaganza of operatic favorites.
