Central City Opera Announces 2025 Season

By Francisco Salazar

The Central City Opera has announced its 2025 season. The season will take place between June 28 and August 3, 225, and will be the first festival programmed by newly appointed Artistic Director Alison Moritz.

Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” will return to the Central City Opera will for the first time in 12 years.

Aleksandra Vrebalov and Deborah Brevoort’s “The Knock” will make its regional premiere. The work is a patriotic opera of heartache and hope and tells the story of military wives awaiting news of their husbands during the Iraq war.

The season will include a Broadway Musical that will be announced after it closes its limited run on Broadway in January.

In addition to mainstage productions and Central City Opera’s traditional Festival Extras, audiences can enjoy “CCO in Concert: Opera’s Greatest Hits,” a special one-night-only concert with festival singers and the CCO Orchestra, on July 25. There will also be Backstage Magic, an opportunity for audiences to watch and learn from IATSE Local 7 crew as they transform the stage and set between performances on two-show Saturdays.
