The Teatro alla Scala has announced that Marina Rebeka has withdrawn from the July 17, 2025 performance of “Norma.”

She will be replaced by soprano Jessica Pratt.

Rebeka had also canceled the July 11 performance due to illness and was replaced by Marta Torbidoni. In that same message she had communicated her intention to return for the July 17 show, but per a social media post she noted that “Dear friends, it is with great sadness and disappointment that I am forced to cancel tomorrow’s performance. Unfortunately, despite rest and medication, my tonsils have not improved. I had so hoped to be able to conclude this wonderful experience on a high note, but my body—our instrument as singers—won’t allow it. Thank you all, and a special thanks to my colleague Jessica Pratt, who will be substituting for me in the performance.”

The production opened on June 27 with Rebeka as the headliner alongside Freddie De Tommaso, who will take on the role of Pollione alongside Pratt. Rebeka sang the subsequent shows on the 30th and July 4, with the July 8 showcase her final one in this run. Torbidoni sang on July 11 and 14. This is Pratt’s first appearance in this production.

Fabio Luisi conducts Bellini’s masterpiece and a cast that also includes Michele Pertusi as Oroveso, Vasilisa Berzhanskaya as Adalgisa, Laura Lolita Perešivana as Clotilde, and Paolo Antognetti as Flavio.
