Cast Change: Andriana Chuchman Joins Canadian Opera Company’s ‘La Traviata’

The Canadian Opera Company has announced a cast change for its production of “La Traviata.”

The company said that Andriana Chuchman  will sing the role of Violetta on Sept. 27, Oct 2, and 9, replacing Lucia Cesaroni.

Chuchman made her Canadian Opera Company as as Gilda in “Rigoletto” last season and has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Vancouver Opera, San Diego Opera, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Dallas Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Washington National Opera, Glimmerglass Festival, Salzburg Whitsun Festival and the Hamburg State Opera.

Chuchman will now share the title role with Kathryn Lewek and will join a cast that includes Long Long and Luke Norvell as Alfredo, and Russell Braun and Reginald Smith as Germont. The  opera will be revived by Mo Zhou and conducted by Paolo Carignani.

“La Traviata” is set to return to the Canadian Opera Company for 10 performances from Sept. 18 to Oct. 17, 2026 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
