Ryan Speedo Green Leads Dutch National Opera’s ‘Der fliegende Holländer’
By Francisco SalazarThe Dutch National Opera is set to present Wagner’s “Der fliegende Holländer.”
The production will mark the house debut of conductor Susanna Mälkki, who will lead a new production directed by Lotte de Beer.
In a statement De Beer said, “In Daland’s world, people cling to a ‘everything was better in the past’ mentality. The Dutchman represents a tradition of deconstruction and nihilism.”
The production will star soprano Elisabeth Teige in her first appearance at Dutch National Opera as Senta alongside bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green, who is making his house and role debut as the Dutchman. Liang Li, Jamez McCorkle, Jasmin White, and Omer Kobiljak round out the cast.
The opera will be performed Dec. 3 to Dec. 27, 2026.
