
Cast Change: Adrian Sâmpetrean Joins Cast of ‘Carmen’ at Opéra National du Capitole de Toulouse
By David SalazarBass-baritone Adrian Sâmpetrean will take over the role of Escamillo at the Opéra national du Capitole de Toulouse’s production of “Carmen.”
Per the company, he will replace Alexandre Duhamel who retired Jean-Louis Grinda’s production for health reasoons. Sâmpetrean will perform on June 26, 28, and 30, and July 2 and 5.
The Romanian bass-baritone has appeared on stages including Teatro alla Scala, Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, Opéra National de Paris, Staatsoper Berlin, Teatro Real in Madrid, Teatro La Fenice, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Opéra National de Bordeaux, the Bolshoi Theatre, Teatro Massimo, Opéra de Lyon, the Norwegian National Opera, Staatsoper Hamburg, and Deutsche Oper am Rhein, among others. He has also appeared at the Salzburg Festival, Arena di Verona, Les Chorégies d’Orange, and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
He joins a cast that stars Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Airam Hernández, and Anaïs Constans, among others. Leo Hussain conducts.
