Carnegie Hall Cancels Live Performances until April

By Francisco Salazar

Carnegie Hall has canceled all live performances until April 5, 2021.

The concert hall said, “We are deeply grateful for the loyalty, support, and commitment you have shown Carnegie Hall. Given current social-distancing protocols related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all in-person events through April 5, 2021. As we navigate the 2020–2021 season together, we promise to continue to be your trusted partner.”

The theater’s announcement does not come as a surprise as all New York concert halls have been shuttered until June including the Metropolitan Opera, David Geffen Hall, and the New York City Ballet. Broadway has closed all of its theaters until June.

Over the past week, New York has seen an uptick in Coronavirus cases with the entire United States passing 9 million COVID-19 cases.
